About
Laima Laurina is a ceramic artist and sculptor born and raised in Latvia, now based between Riga, Latvia and Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Her artistic journey began with an unrelenting inner-call and intuition that formed a deep connection with the natural world and a love for hands-on work.
After discovering her love for clay, Laurina pursued her passion with a ceramics diploma from the Arts Academy of Latvia, forming a solid foundation and the technical skills required to excel in this medium. She also spent a semester in Spain studying Product Design, which provided her with a unique perspective on the intersection of art, design and functionality. She also embarked on a ceramics apprenticeship in the beautiful Mediterranean island of Mallorca, this experience helped to expand her horizons and infuse her work with new and exciting ideas.
Today, Laurina’s art is a beautiful manifestation of her playful curiosity and deep connection with the natural world. Her pieces are all handmade, using her own unique techniques that are both intricate, and precise. She experiments with different calming color gradients and plays with the textural elements of porcelain, creating pieces that communicate a compelling narrative about the tremendous effort and patience that goes into each creation. Each piece is a unique expression of her skill, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the craft.
